Cooking

Momma didn't think she was a very good cook, I think her cooking was wonderful. Wish I could go home and sit at the table with her and have honey toast and grape juice. Out of every thing she made my most favorite is honey toast.

When we lived in California and were poor that's what what i had for lunch but i didn't like is so much then.

When she lived in the 21st Street apartment with me, sometimes she would make me a honey toast before i left for work, which was incredible because i left for work at 3:00 am. When she made me a honey toast she would take a bite out of it and wrap it in a paper towel (so the honey and butter didn't drip on my clothes). When I make myself honey toast I take a bite, wrap it up in a paper towel and imagine that my Momma made it for me.

Sunday Dinner

Roast, gravy, wheat and fruit jello (lots of banana's for Johnny).  I don't think she ever missed a Sunday. Coming home from church the house smells like roast, Mmmmm so good.

Other things

Once when i was driving from Montana to Ogden. Mom and dad were staying with Grandma Afton on Arco while Aunt Carol was on vacation. Mom told me to come by and she would cook me dinner. She cooked chicken enchiladas, they were incredible.

In the South Weber home on a visit, she made tacos with radishes. She found the recipe in a little recipe magazine. I don't remember what else was in it because I was surprised that the radishes made the tacos so tasty.

Tortillas

Making tortillas with mom was always fun. Having fresh tortillas- nothing better

  1. Even Eric and Garrett remembers and loves the homemade tortillas. I loved them whether they were very small or normal size or crispy, or exploded (if you know what I mean). Brigham liked making the little balls of dough and flattening them in the tortilla maker and his favorite part was that Grandma would let him make little tiny tortillas.
Anna and the boys want to start the tradition of roast for every Sunday Dinner.
We carry on the tradition of honey toast here at our house. We like it most on homemade bread. We all have varying amounts of honey that we like.
Every once on a while, I take a bite out of the kid's toast when I make it for them. They aren't really used to me doing that so they usually aren't happy about it. I tell them one of two things. That I wanted to make sure that it tasted good, or that I took the bite because that is what my mom did.
Julie remembers most the visiting. Mom would love for people to sit at the bar and visit with her while she preps and cooks and cleans in the kitchen.
Mom would make a potato soup and then freeze it in quart bags. When the boys would go over, she would pull out a bag, add some frozen peas, warm it and mash it. The boys loved it. when Julie made potatoes, the boys would ask why they were not green.
I loved my moms strawberry kefir shakes. So yummy. I loved having mint tea with honey during scripture study, or fresh fruit.
    Adam wants to meet grandma.
